1890 tugboat ELMORE in Port Townsend 2012. by Northwest Seaport

During the Wooden Boat Festival, we learned that the historic tugboat ELMORE is up for sale.

From the handout provided by Dee Meek, the ELMORE is a 78-foot retired tow tug of timber construction.  20-foot beam, 10-foot draft, built in Astoria, Oregon.  Atlas Imperial diesel engine, 4HM763, 110HP, 4 cylinders, single screw, four bladed prop, pull/pull cable and air power steering; steel rudder plate; anchor windless, 3200 gallon fuel capacity, 1000 water storage with water maker, 20KW 200V 3phase and 120V, 5KW single phase gen sets.   “Perfect live aboard” as both Dee & Sara Meek will share with you.  Watch and listen to her in this video.

Here’s a timeline and some pictures of ELMORE”s history generated by Hooked on Wooden Boats for Episode #015 by “Wooden Boat Dan” in 2011.

She shares the stage with Northwest Seaport’s historic tugboat ARTHUR FOSS as being involved in the gold rush and ferrying freight and passengers to Alaska in 1898.

In fact, Northwest Seaport is seeking images of both vessels in the same photographic frame.  Contact us if you know about any in existence.

She’ll be in Seattle, we’ve been told, during the weekend of September 29/30, 2012.  She’s a Cougars fan!
